2008 INFORMATION DAY – NEW PLAYER REGISTRATION
Hello to all parents, welcome all new families.
FOR ALL ACADEMY & JUNIOR PLAYERS:
•Saturday 23rd February 2008 - 10am to 2pm at the Grange Reserve clubrooms.
•Registered players (U11 – U16) will be notified by respective coaches when training starts.
•Training night/s for all teams will be allocated to each team closer to season.
Parents are asked to complete & return their registration forms by Saturday 23rd February 2008.
2008 membership fees
Fees Include – all membership, player registration, ffv affiliation, presentations, insurance, coaching & equipment costs.
Academy= $300 Junior Player= $350 Child 2 & 3 = $180 each Child 4= Free
Grange Levy for new families remains at $50.00 The Grange Levy does not apply to previous members. In fairness to existing members, we will expect all new members to pay this additional fee from 2006 and beyond. The levy is a once off fee. Remember the levy applies to the family not the player, so if a 2007 family has a new player coming along they do not have to pay the levy again.
All players (new and 2007) are expected to complete and have parents sign the 2008 registration form. No player will be allowed to participate or train without this form being returned.
Registration forms are used to place children into teams. No form = no team for that player.
Team vacancies will be assessed against number of forms completed i.e.10 forms means a team has a number of vacancies regardless of how many kids are training.
We have commenced a one payment only policy for memberships (NO PART PAYMENTS). The introduction of 3 nights for fee collection from junior parents improved the process of getting players registered for the season.
Academy fee collections will continue to be on Saturday mornings. (uniform supplied on full payment) All parents of junior members are advised that the 2008 fees are to be paid 3 weeks prior to the start of the season. The club will again set aside 3 nights for the payment of those fees, which should allow members plenty of opportunity to put money aside over a number of months prior to cover the cost of the same.
We understand that this initially may have caused some hardships however the collection of memberships is a massive job at the club which needs to be managed appropriately. (PAYMENT DATES TO BE CONFIRMED)
Any family with financial difficulties can approach the club for payment arrangement. This must be done at information / registration day.
FIRST AID
The club needs people with the first aid experience; Many people that have first aid skills from their work place know enough to help when needed. Please volunteer this very important skill that you have.
CLUB POLICIES
HCSC has a number of written policies detailing what is expected of members, coaches and players in being a valuable contributor to the Club. We hope that these policies assist those who aim to do the right thing and help teams concentrate on training and playing. It is expected that all members read and acknowledge the club policies as a condition of membership. Policies are in place to ensure fairness across the board. Most are common sense but should be read and acknowledged regardless.
Policies are available on club website – http://www.hopperscrossingsc.com.au/html/club_policies.html
2008 TEAM HELPERS
HCSC will continue requiring parents of players to assist more in the day to day running of their child’s team.
We identified the following number of jobs in 2007 listed here (nets, ground marshals, linesperson, canteen and change room cleaning) which must be done by parents of each team during a home game.
Sharing the workload between all teams in 2008.
Coaches & Team Managers will be expected to enlist the parents of their own players.
Team rosters are compulsory for each team and the parent duties will be completed each week.
We will provide all teams with a completed roster of parents covering the identified jobs. The jobs must be done for teams to compete within the club. It is not much fun for a team having to inherit filthy change rooms or not have a canteen because another team’s parents didn’t bother showing up. We realise that this means people have to roll up their sleeves however we want to get back to being a club where everyone chips in and not just the overworked handful. If you cannot complete your rostered duty it is your responsibility to swap with someone else. Failure to adhere to some jobs, namely canteen duty, causes a major impact at the club. Every year HCSC go through the same stresses involved in placing children in teams and finding coaches and managers. If you performed as a coach or manager in 2007 we feel that these are rewarding roles which help the club and more importantly help children develop.
If you want to assist in 2008 please let the club know.

If you can’t, that is disappointing however we would rather know in what areas we need to recruit volunteers sooner than later. If you are new or haven’t volunteered before but would like to have a go, please also contact club via the above details.
HCSC will fund approved coaching courses that coaches may wish to attend.
2008 TEAMS
We at HCSC do everything possible to ensure each child can play in a team. Unfortunately players come and go and teams change. Although we never know who will be playing each year we do guarantee first preference in teams to 2007 players (regardless of ability). First preference however extends to being in a squad, once the squad is finalised then every player is an equal, no matter how long they have been at the club. HCSC do not advocate a win at all costs approach. We judge success on participation and enjoyment. A win is nice but not necessary at junior level. Having fun and being part of a club are the most important things.
2008 CLUB VOLUNTEERS
This is where you can make an impact beyond individual teams. We have some excellent opportunities for members wishing to go that extra yard beyond their child’s team. Some challenging roles include social function coordinator, communications (Redmail), bar manager, club administration and sponsorship manager. Better still, if you see a need for something at club level, please see one of the Executive and let them know.
